Nicely captures the passion and zeal that went into building the Starbucks brand. Howard Schultz has done a wonderful job so far; it will be interesting to see how he handles the next phase...with all the fast food chains entering the gourmet coffee business and with the changing consumption patterns the road is probably going to be rougher.

Search Engine Marketing in one.

This book is excellent. It really covers so much in a short amount of time and I was fascinated from the start. I particularly liked the discussion of paid vs organic searchers and the value of each and have a richer insight into just how we all search . There are a number of graphs and pictures displayed throughout which compliment all discussions very well, driving home marketing in the digital age. Perhaps the most powerful aspect of this book (for me) is the strategies and ideas suggested and the steps the author puts forward to develop your strategies so you too can be successful online.

The author also discusses many tools which can be used in your online strategy including, Google Trends, Adwords and others and provides clear examples of how these can be integrated into strategies.

If you want to know more about search engine marketing this is a great addition to anyone's library.

Could be better...

My high expectations for this pricey book were not met. They cover basic statistics, a watered down version. Other than a couple of concepts I could have gotten the rest of the book from an elementary statistics book. Even though the title says its for market research, it does not cover any of the important concepts of market research- market segmentation, cluster analysis, factor analysis, etc.

An absolute must for your library

The Sandler Selling System is revolutionary. Since being exposed to it about 6 months ago, I have ben trying (travel schedules permitting) to get up to speed and train using the approach. It explicitly looks at the psychology of selling, not just the techniques - turning traditional ABC selling on its head.

The foundation of the Sandler System are the 49 rules outlined in this book. The book is a quick read, and the information in it both simple and profound. There is a brief introduction to the Sandler System, as well as a discussion of the psychology of the approach. The 49 rules follow, each with a discussion, review question, and practical exercise/reflection question.

Probably the best way to use this book is to read it cover to cover a few times, and then take one rule a week and fcous on it - getting through the book again once a year. I can assure you that my copy will become somewhat dogeared over time. A great resource.
