The Secret 4-Hour Work-Week

Reading this book made me really appreciate what a great writer Tim Ferriss is.

"The Unemployed Millionaire" is a messy, self-congratulatory rehashing of "The Four Hour Work-Week" combined with near-verbatim passages from "The Secret", "The Power of Positive Thinking" and "Unlimited Power". The only thing that makes this book stand out is also its most irritating aspect: its religious overtones, which are at times painfully contradictory (e.g., coming in on the heels of a long-winded diatribe about the importance of self-determination).

Aside from the unnecessary infusion of the author's religious beliefs, there's absolutely nothing new about the information contained in this book. Sometimes, it feels like you're reading a Cliff's Notes version of "The Four Hour Work-Week", until you hit a section that seems lifted from "The Secret" and just about every other revisionist version of Norman Vincent Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking". Page after page reads like a tired mash-up, particularly if you've been reading books on the same subject. Even the jacket design is derivative of the aforementioned "The Four-Hour Work-Week", except it's blue instead of orange and uses a nicer font (hence my one-star rating).

If you want to read a well-written, informative book about how to become a self-made mogul, stick with "The Four-Hour Work-Week". If you want to read a book that tells you how to be a successful entrepreneur, read "How to Make Millions With Your Ideas" by Dan Kennedy. If you want to read a better book about following your passion and using 21st-century communication tools, read Gary Vaynerchuk's "Crush It". If you want to read a book that challenges your approach to working and starting your own business, read Jason Fried's "Rework"...and if you want a book that tells you how you can become an on-the-job asset, read "Linchpin" by Seth Godin.

In short, read anything else.

Avoid!

Not much else to add to other 1-star comments, they are right on. Another bad example of "information marketing" that doesn't create any real value, just tries to accumulate a spam list from responding suckers so they can be later taken for a ride. Save your money!

Don't bother

This book is a poorly organized rehash of Timothy Ferris's The Four Hour Work week, but offer less useful information and throws a bunch of religion on top of it. By Mr. Ferris's book instead and you'll get the same information.

The Unemployed Millionaire

Awesome and extremely inspirational book! I personally knew this author before I read this book and now my respect and admiration for Matt Morris has quadrupled! He rarely shares these intimate experiences in day to day interactions with people who surround his successful business; however, I now realize what motivates and inspires him. Through this book, Matt Morris has reached deep inside my soul and pulled out the "flame of passion for success" that I always knew resided in me, but didn't know how to bring it to the surface. It reinforced the mantra we have repeatedly heard..."never quit, never quit, never quit!". A must read book for every person aspiring to be successful without sacrificing their quality of life.

no thanks

I agree with what the others have said. I checked out the audio version from my library and aside from what is in the book (or lack thereof) the readers voice sounds like someone i'd want to punch in the face.
