Just Plain GarbageMy daughter just entered first grade and is supposed to pick out a book from the library every week to help her learn how to read. She brought home Junie B books two weeks in a row. They are garbage. Twenty five percent of the words are misspelled or misused. Junie B is vile, nasty and rude. By reading such trash, my daughter is never going to learn how to spell words properly or use them correctly. My wife and I have banned them from our house.
Just plain dumb, bad and I hate Junie B JonesThese are the type of words and rhetoric you will find in this book series. So be prepared.
I did not care one wit for Junie B Jones. My husband and I try to teach our children by positive reinforcement and providing positive examples of good behavior and this goes against everything we try to instill in our kids. This is not easy when most people readily accept the type of behavior Junie B Jones exhibits -- the rude, selfishly impulsive, apathetic, self-centered, whiny kid behavior. It seems this has become a norm and readily accepted by a complacent society. And maybe this explains why we have more bullies in the school yard and more kids growing up feeling self-entitled.
If you're a parent that still believes in raising children with manners and sticking to the golden rule, then this is not the type of material you want your kids exposed to.
Not a fan.....I have a 7 yr old girl that has been trying to read Junie B. books for over a year. The stories are okay, but the incorrect grammar is almost unbearable. It confuses my daughter so much she has to stop reading and ask for an explanation. We will not be getting any more of these books!
I won't let my kids read this garbage.There are a lot of really nice children's stories out there that are more like true literature than this nonsense. A neighbor lent me one of these books for my daughter and we gave it back before we finished it. I would never let my kids act the way Junie does or speak the way she does. I don't get why people think this is funny, she sets a terrible example and it is NOT okay for kids to act the way she does. I would be horrified if my kids thought the way she does about things.
RelaxBonjour, I am a 10 year old. Junie Is funny and Id love to hang out with her. She is talking like a person my age but so what. Every one needs a little zest she is not cinderella, hey park this should be a tv show. Stop writing bad reviews everyone should be a little Junie b. B. Why did you stop Park keep going good job!
